Merry Christmas!
Well it´s Christmas. It doesn´t really feel like it with the heast and gorgeous weather, but my cell phone informed me this morning, that yes today is Christmas.
I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my host families extended family in Itacurubi, a town 2 hours away. It was like most family summer barbque´s back home, lots of family lots of food. The men and boys played soccer while the women chatted and drank terere.
Once it was getting dark the young boys started playing with the numerous firecrackers that are in abundance around Christmas time. The fire was prepped for the asado and the meat was speared onto long sticks to rotate over the fire. Supper was a loud event with everyone talking and eating, it was almost like being at home for Christmas. After supper was dessertsm, more chatting and more firecrackers. Until midnight when they set off the largest firecrackers they had and everyone greeted each other with a Feliz Navidad.
This morning we woke up and after chatting and helping clean up a little we left for home.
It has definitly been different, but I have enjoyed experiencing Christmas differently.

I'm dreaming of a warm Christmas...
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Rebecca!!!
Got your phone message. All our love, Tante Susan.
That kind of warm Christmas would be great for a change Beck. I could do with an asado as a change from the regular turkey if it ment putting up with a little heat. I think you would only need to be home for a day of fridged weather and be ready for some more heat. Hope your visit to the relatives went well.

Christmas Barbecues... we won't have another one of those for awhile.
